Bad Honnef: "New Cadenabbia promenade" on Grafenwerth
The island of Grafenwerth, which has been owned by the city of Bad Honnef since 1921, has recently presented itself more international. The bank promenade now officially bears the name "Cadenabbia promenade". This step symbolizes the longstanding friendship and the cultural connections between Bad Honnef and the Italian twin town of Cadenabbia.
When the new sign was unveiled, there were also over 30 guests from Cadenabbia in addition to mayors from both cities. Mayor Pietro Ortelli was honored that a street was named after the twin city, and emphasized the importance of this gesture for the partnership -based relationship that has existed for more than 30 years.
Visit program of the Italian guests
The delegation from Cadenabbia took part in various activities that showed the historical and cultural diversity of the region. This included visits to the Drachenburg and the Dragon Fel, as well as the Ehrenbreitstein fortress in Koblenz, which provided further insights into the history and nature of the area.
The city twinning
The official partnership between Bad Honnef and Cadenabbia was sealed in April 1992. This happened in a solemn ceremony in which the then mayor of both cities took part. This connection received additional buoyancy from Konrad Adenauer, who has regularly spent his vacation in Cadenabbia since 1957. Today is the "Villa La Collina", which rented Adenauer and which is now an internationally recognized conference center, as a sign of this close bond.
Square of the city twinning
Signs were also installed on the island that provide information about the various partner cities in the region. This initiative is intended to promote the exchange and friendships between the cities and further underline the importance of international relationships.
In recent years, the Association for Cities Partnerships, especially the Bad Honnef - Cadenabbia Committee, has experienced a positive development. The number of members has increased significantly, which indicates a growing interest in the cultural exchange programs and the mutual visits.
