Train driver in Schwerte, Unna and Dortmund: Timetable changes from April!

Construction site hits train traffic for Schwerte, Unna and Dortmund

rail travelers in the Schwerte, Unna and Dortmund area will have to prepare for restrictions on train traffic in the coming weeks. From April 25, 2023, there will be changed timetables due to planned work on a motorway bridge and partly bypasses to replacement buses. Deutsche Bahn has announced that track closures will be necessary during this period.

The necessary measures begin to lay over -lines and cable work under the motorway bridge. This work was set after the first activities in February. In addition, Deutsche Bahn will take the opportunity to carry out maintenance work on various tracks and two railway bridges, which means a comprehensive maintenance of the rail infrastructure.

Changes in long-distance transport

For long -distance traffic, significant changes are also provided for four weeks. Trains that drive from Cologne via Wuppertal towards Berlin will drive on a detour path between Hagen and Hamm, which will lead to an extension of the travel time by about 30 minutes. The sprinter trains of the ICE line between Bonn, Cologne, Hanover and Berlin will be complete, but at least two-hour direct connections between Cologne and Berlin remain guaranteed during the construction work.

affected local transport lines

Several lines are affected by the changes in local transport. The trains of the RE 7 and RE 13 will not drive between Hagen and Hamm during the closures. The route between Dortmund-Hörde and Schwerte is also partially closed, and the lines RB 53 and RE 57 are also affected. Buses are provided as a replacement between April 25 and May 23. In addition, the RB 59, which runs between Unna and Holzwickede, is set until May 5th, there are also replacement buses for this route.

These extensive work are part of the continuous efforts of Deutsche Bahn to ensure the safety and reliability of rail transport in the region. Travelers are asked to inform themselves in good time about current timetables and possible diversions in order to avoid inconvenience during the construction work.
