Bistro Melody serves Ethiopian buffet

In the heart of Bonn-Graurheindorf, Zema Abraham Kadir recently opened her first café and bistro that bears the sonorous name "Melody". The name, which means melody on Amharian, reflects the host's philosophy, which has been a bridge between Ethiopian and European cuisine since her arrival in Germany in 2012.

The bistro is located in the premises that previously housed various cafés. Kadir and her family tried to make the ambience of the restaurant comfortably. The walls shine in a light green color and are decorated with works of art that show the famous buildings of Ethiopia, as well as colorful, traditional baskets that are typical of Ethiopian culture. There are also stylish hanging lamps that give the room a special atmosphere.

There is space for around 40 guests, while outside, under a shade-giving olive tree, invites a terrace with 25 seats for lingering. Kadir, whose passion for coffee is clearly noticeable, plans to unite Ethiopian coffee specialties with European influences in order to offer their guests a unique experience.

The menu in the bistro Melody is clearly designed and offers a variety of options, from breakfast variants to lentil soup to changing salad creations. A special attraction is the Ethiopian buffet, which is offered every Saturday from 12.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and offers an excellent price-performance ratio. In addition, the homemade desserts such as cheese and lemon cakes are known far beyond the borders of the bistro.

For coffee lovers there is a selection of coffee specialties in the bistro, which are prepared with high-quality organic roasts. The drinks range from classic caffè crema to special teas, including traditional Ethiopian spice tea. The conceptualization of Bistro Melody shows how diverse and integrative the eating culture can be.
