The unknown facets of the Siegburg artist KP Kremer

With large -sharown large formats, KP Kremer has become known. Strict color painting is what comes to mind for many when they hear his name. But the work of the Siegburg, who has just turned 80, also has many other facets, as an exhibition in the picture book museum Burg Wissem shows in Troisdorf.

"Otherwise you know me rather contemplatively," notes KP Kremer himself, while pointing out vividly colorful watercolor work. The works of art in the manor house of the castle reveal at least one further level. The artist often uses printed paper as the basis for his works. These include a prayer book designed with watercolor color and three -dimensional collages that were made from greeded paper.

The show in the Troisdorf Museum breaks down supposed strict with a wink, as museum director Dr. Pauline Liesen emphasized. Once a year, the Museum of Art opens, which is not only illustrated. Artists from the free scene dedicated to the book are given the opportunity to present their works and show that a picture book is not intended for children.

KP Kremer processes savings books, old slides and patterns of his mother in a creative way. Adhesive and scissors belong to his tools with which he creates artistic collages and paintings from everyday materials. The artist emphasizes that freedom in the visual art is greatest for him and that the preparation of each exhibition must be carefully planned.

The exhibition "Vivace" by KP Kremer will open on Sunday, April 23, at 4 p.m. in the Wissem Museum in Troisdorf and can be visited until June 16 during the usual opening hours. A catalog for the exhibition is also available.
