On Wednesday evening, May 1st, the Bad Honnef volunteer fire brigade was alerted to an assignment, in which two gazeboards were on fire. The first alarm reached the emergency services at 6:11 p.m. when a fire was reported in Bondorfer Strasse. There was a risk that the fire could spread to a neighboring house.
Efficient fire fighting
The fire brigade used several teams under respiratory protection to extinguish the fires and turn off the embers with the help of extinguishing foam. Thanks to the fast and coordinated use, the flames could be spread to the surrounding vegetation or residential development, which granted the safety of the residents.
Support of the fire brigade Rheinbreitbach
A total of around 50 emergency services were involved in the fire site in Blümeling, while 25 forces worked on the first place of fire. The support also came from the Rheinbreitbach fire brigade from the Unkel community. Due to the warm temperatures, the German Red Cross caused the firefighters with drinks. An ambulance was also on site to ensure the self -protection of the emergency services.
The police have now started the cause of the fire. The professional and quick reaction of the fire brigade may have prevented worse and illustrates the importance of the well -trained emergency services in the region.
