Franz Weber, an outstanding figure in the German triathlon and cycling community in Hawaii, unfortunately died. He not only had the chair of the Hawaii cycling club, but also worked as a "volunteer and information director" of the Ironman Hawaii for many years.
Franz was born in Munich and spent his childhood in Hamburg and Bonn. On a vacation in the USA, he met his wife Joanna. After several trips that confirmed their love for the island, the Webers decided to emigrate to Hawaii. They found their new home in Kailua-Kona. There Franz held a responsible position with an ecological supplier for food and quickly became a local personality that embodied the Aloha feeling.
Commitment to the community
Franz 'commitment was diverse. He devoted himself intensively to the promotion of cycling in Hawaii and campaigned for the safety of cyclists. Under his leadership, numerous cycling events were organized that were well received by the community. His endeavor has always been to represent the interests of endurance athletes and to increase security on the streets.
