His work is characterized by unmistakable symbolism that contains many fantastic and fantastic elements. Through the reflection of his Jewish Orthodox origin and memories of his childhood in Russia, Chagall brings emotional and cultural depth into his art.

As early as 1930, Chagall was commissioned by the Paris publisher Ambroise Vollard to illustrate the Bible, which led him to a journey through different countries to the Middle East. In his eyes, the Bible was an inexhaustible source of poetic work.

The exhibition in Schwalenberg is accompanied by a public tour on April 27, 2025, which offers interested visitors the opportunity to get to know Chagalls fascinating visual worlds better. The tour takes place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a small fee of 3 euros plus regular museum entry. The exhibition will be shown in the municipal gallery from April 13 to June 22, 2025 and is open on Tuesday to Sunday.
