The completion of the project is now targeted for 2027, which means a further delay compared to the previous dates, which were last planned for 2024. For the traffic flows in Frechen, Kerpen and in the surrounding region, the final point is of great importance, since it is intended to help relieve the overloaded passage through Frechen-Königsdorf. The planned connections via Landstrasse 361 are of essential importance for connecting to the region.

In order to complete the planned construction work, several buildings must be built, including access points and an underpass. The necessary steps and permits have been complicated by various unforeseen circumstances, which contributes to the increasing costs and the continuous delay. The construction site is still a striking example of the challenges that exist in the area of infrastructure expansion in Germany.
