Cologne/Bonn Airport lists 20% more passengers for Easter

More passengers in the Easter holidays than 2024

During this year's Easter holidays, the airports in North Rhine-Westphalia record a significant increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year. Cologne/Bonn Airport in particular reported an increase of around 20 percent, which in absolute numbers means over 500,000 passengers who started or landed there during this period.

The Düsseldorf Airport, as one of the largest in the state, expects over 1.1 million passengers during the Easter holidays. This corresponds to an increase of around 200,000 passengers or around 22 percent compared to the previous year. As the highest crowd, the last day of the holiday on April 27 is predicted, where 34,000 passengers are expected.

Both airports are optimistic about coping with the increased passenger volume. Thanks to efficient processes, the check-in was 85 percent of travelers in less than ten minutes. The security controls were also quick with a success rate of 97 percent. This indicates that the airports have made comprehensive preparations to cope with the rush of travelers.

In summary, it can be stated that the aviation industry in North Rhine-Westphalia has a positive trend in terms of travel activities during the Easter holidays. This growth could be seen as a sign of a return to normal in the travel industry, according to the challenging years of pandemic. The high demand for air travel is a clear indication that many travelers put confidence in flying and take the opportunity to plan and start their trips.
