Rheinbach. The exchange of the 10th classes of the Rheinbach municipal high school with the Lycée in Boulogne-sur-Mer, the established partner school in France, has excited many students. At the beginning, some young people asked themselves whether their knowledge of French would be sufficient in order to be able to communicate with the French exchange partners. However, these fears disappeared quickly when the students received the French guests on the bus. The initial nervousness gave way to an immediately noticeable feel -good climate, which shaped the entire exchange.

On the first day, a welcome buffet was prepared for the guests, followed by getting to know each other in the schoolyard. When the weather was nice, these activities offered an excellent opportunity to familiarize themselves with each other before the young people spent time with the host families. The following day was characterized by sporting activities: a trampoline park and a digital city rally caused a lot of movement. A small ice break rounded off the day and promoted the cooperation.

As part of the program, the French guests also had the opportunity to take part in the lessons of the 9th and 10th grades. An interactive teaching unit, called "Speeddating", encouraged the students to exchange information and then present it in the respective foreign language. Intercultural videos on the Easter customs in Germany and France were also created, which further deepened understanding of the respective culture.

The Bonn group visited on the last day of the exchange. A picnic on the Rhine and the visit to the House of History offered valuable insights into German culture and history. The emotional farewell on Friday illustrated the positive feeling that had arisen during the week. At the beginning of foreign faces have become friends who look forward to seeing you again in Boulogne-sur-Mer.

The exchange not only contributed to strengthening language skills, but also promoted sustainable friendships between the young Europeans. Many participants wanted this valuable exchange to take longer, which underlines its great potential for intercultural understanding and personal development.
