Justice for Lorenz: Cologne protest against police violence on May 3

#Justiceforlorenz: Demo moves via Cologne rings to the Aachener Weiher

On Saturday, May 3, in Cologne against police violence and the insufficient information of the case of Lorenz A. is demonstrated. The 21-year-old lost his life after a policeman shot him in a pedestrian zone. Organized by the "Sunflower Community Development Group e.V.", the organizers emphasize that topics such as racial profiling and systemic violence have to be brought into light.

The demonstration begins at 2 p.m. on Ebertplatz with a greeting and several speeches. Around 3:15 p.m., the move via the Cologne rings starts to move, whereby the rally finds its peak in the Hiroshima Nagasaki Park at around 5 p.m. The police predicted a maximum number of 1,000 people for the event, but states that it is difficult to estimate the actual presence.

The authorities expect a trouble -free course of the demo and then have no hundred. Traffic disabilities will occur during the train, which are, however, "rolling", which means that the road closures only apply where the move is.

After the move, further speeches are planned at the Aachen Weiher, which are illustrated in the program of the organizers. Musical deposits are also planned by around 6 p.m.

The circumstances of the death of Lorenz A. are worrying because the autopsy confirmed multiple firing injuries and the responsible police officer has now been suspended from duty. The demo is also intended to show the connections to other cases of police violence and racism by referring to the fate of Oury Jalloh and Mouhamed Dramé, which also died by police violence.
