Alfter: The Historical House of Höckling is history

The once striking half -timbered building Haus Höckling at Kronenstraße 16 in Alfter is now almost completely razed to the ground. This event marks the end of an important chapter in the Alfter village history, since only a few remains, such as the Wetterhahn, are worth preserving. The Wetterhahn was secured by the "Haus der Alfterer History" (HDAG) support association and will be part of a special exhibition that will open on May 4th.

The demolished building was a three -story half -timbered house with a striking pink paint that was built around 1810. It was an important structure in Alfter and was considered one of the highest buildings in the place. Historical reports indicate that building materials of the house, such as stone frames, could come from one of the former electoral hunting lines.

Unclear future for the property

With the demolition of the house, the future plans for the property are still in the balance. Rumors state that the municipality has acquired 40 square meters of the property to widen the sidewalk and increase safety for pedestrians. At the same time, there is the possibility that parking spaces will arise on the remaining area. However, the residents are concerned about the possible changes and fear that the location for the "racing slope" could become drivers.

The municipal administration has so far not been willing to share detailed information about the new plans, since private property matters are mostly treated in confidential meetings. The demolition of the house was ultimately necessary after several reports had shown that a renovation -friendly renovation was not economically portable.

in the heir of the House of Höckling

The Haus Höckling was not just a simple place of residence; It was also part of the Alfter Castle. It has changed the owner in various ways over the years and was most recently in the hands of a community of owners. The considerable need for renovation, which was estimated at more than a million euros, ultimately led to the irrevocable demolition of this significant structure.

The topic of monument protection and the economic framework in such cases represent a constant challenge. It remains to be hoped that the upcoming opening of the exhibition and the associated attention to the history of half -timbered houses in Alfter help to preserve the cultural heritage of the region.

Public special exhibition

The upcoming special exhibition "History in Wood and Clay - Half -Househouses in Alfter" offers the citizens the opportunity to learn more about the region's lost legacy. The exhibition is open from May 4th to June 9th and admission is free, which will provide further interest and exchange in the community.
