The owner of the company, Frank Bladier, presented a plan to establish an innovation center three years ago, which is placed on a property along the federal road 8. This center is to become a creative space for Igus employees, where you can work on new ideas and products. The construction of the first part of the complex, in which a new bicycle with the highest proportion of recyclable plastics is developed, has already started.

The newly designed bicycle is from Dr. Thilo Schultes, the managing director of Igus, presented and emphasizes that it is low in maintenance because it does not have to be lubricated or greased. The innovation center plays a crucial role in maintaining Igus' innovative strength at a time when the technology is developing rapidly. The company has invested heavily in its locations in Germany in the past five years, with 350 million euros in development and modernization.

phase Spich: A creative space for innovations

The innovation center, which is known under the project name "Phase Spich", continues to grow and includes, among other things, a new parking garage that will be completed in June 2025. This parking garage will offer space for 477 cars and 83 bicycles. Manfred Haupt, the project manager, describes the building as a "green gate to Spich and Cologne", which is not only functional but also aesthetically designed.

In addition to the construction and park infrastructure, emphasis is also placed on the environment. A orchard meadow has already been created on the site, which also offers habitats for lizards.
