Aktion Mensch promotes model region in Saarland
On April 10, 2025, the “Inclusion on site” project was officially launched in St. Wendel. Lebenshilfe St. Wendel celebrated the starting signal with an event in which Christina Marx from Aktion Mensch and Kerstin Schikora from the Saarland Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Women and Health presented a symbolic funding notice of over 75,000 euros. This support is part of the efforts to make sustainable offers in the district.
At the opening event there was a wide range of guests, including the Minister of Social Affairs Dr. Magnus Jung and District Administrator Udo Recktenwald. Representatives of Aktion Mensch were also on site to support the project. The coordinators of the project, Jerôme Laubenthal and Rudi Geßner, have contributed significantly to the successful application, which are now taking a significant step forward with this funding.
In his presentation, network coordinator Jerôme Laubenthal presented the structure of the project and outlined the next steps. The aim is to create meeting rooms that promote social interaction in the region. Christina Marx emphasized how important it is to anchor inclusion in the everyday areas of life of people - where they live, work and learn.
The event was accompanied musically by the Wittlich songwriter Tamara Köcher, who contributed to the positive mood with her songs. The working group consists of a wide network of partners, including local associations, social organizations, educational institutions and representatives from the health and economic industry. This underlines the social responsibility for an inclusive environment.
The reception at the end of the event offered a valuable opportunity for everyone present to exchange ideas and to discuss their visions for integrative cooperation in Saarland. Such initiatives play a central role in promoting an inclusive life for all population groups and are role models for similar projects in other regions.
