Youth fire brigade in action: Surprising emergency ends annual exercise abrupt

The planned course of the annual exercise of the youth fire brigade on the outdoor pool in Sankt Augustin was suddenly interrupted when the alarms of the firefighters were triggered in a native -storey building in Menden due to a fire. This incident required immediate action, which meant the premature end of the intensely prepared exercise. Up to this point, about one hundred young people from the youth fire brigade were the focus of the action, while relatives and friends pursued what was happening. The sudden interruption of the exercise showed how realistic and important the training of the youth fire brigade is.

The scenario for the exercise organized by the youth keeper Daniel Brücken was challenging: a walker discovered a deflection in the technical area of the swimming pool with chlorine gas exit, which led to life -threatening injuries. Here members of the Youth Red Cross acted as an injury actor who were terrifyingly made up. The situation required a quick and precise action by the youth fire brigades aged 10 to 18 years to react appropriately to the different emergency scenarios.

The youth fire brigade is an important pillar for Sankt Augustin, since the city rely on volunteers in fires and emergencies. Membership in the volunteer fire brigade is free of charge for the youngsters and includes extensive equipment. Girls are increasingly represented and actively take part in the exercises. Katarzyna Kratz, the city youth fire brigade, expressed her satisfaction despite the surprising course of the exercise and praised the performance of the young firefighters.

The volunteer fire brigade moved out with a large part of its fleet to offer the young people a realistic practice scenario. Despite the unexpected demolition, the efficiency and professionalism of the youth fire brigade and its team spirit showed. The rapid reaction of the firefighters to make the emergency vehicles ready to use quickly made their willingness and ability to act quickly and effectively in an emergency.
