Bonn
Anne-Katrin Pröbstel has taken on a pioneering task in her new role as director of neuroimmunology at the University Hospital Bonn (UKB). At just 38, she is one of the youngest clinic director in Germany and strives to decrypt the connections between the immune system and neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Their innovative approach aims to better understand the mechanisms that lead to the immune system attacking its own body.

Professor Pröbstel attaches great importance to interdisciplinary research and would also like to bring new perspectives away from the common scientific currents. Your methodology combines clinical experience with basic immunological principles to develop new therapy options. These research approaches could not only improve existing therapies, but also open new treatment perspectives for patients with autoimmune diseases.

In addition, the role of neuroimmunologists in the context of neuroscientific research becomes increasingly important. The increasing number of autoimmune diseases requires innovative approaches in medical research and clinic. In this context, Pröbstel plans to promote collaborations with related disciplines in order to create synergies between research and clinical practice.

Pröbstel’s admission to the series of clinic directors not only underlines their personal commitment, but also the diversity and future viability of the medical landscape in Germany. In an area that is often considered dominated by older colleagues, it brings fresh ideas and perspectives that could be inspiring for the next generations of doctors and scientists.
