Kita costs rise from August: Here are the details!

At the beginning of the next school year in August, the city of Hennef plans to increase childcare fees in daycare centers, child minders and in the open all -day school by ten percent. Parents with an annual gross income of less than 30,000 euros are excluded from this increase and do not have to pay contributions. In addition, the two years before schooling are free of contributions.

Childcare is a subsidy business for the city. In 2020, the city recorded a deficit of almost 9.5 million euros. For 2023, the preliminary minus is estimated at 12.2 million euros and tends to be increasing. The costs rose significantly due to inflation, salary increases and the expansion of childcare places, while the income remained largely constant.

In order to ensure budget equalization, the city plans to increase parental contributions to daycare centers and day care for all income groups over 30,000 euros by ten percent. In addition, new income groups for many earners are to be introduced. The increase in premium only covers part of the increased costs and is expected to lead to additional revenues of around 142,000 euros in the current year.

In terms of open all -day school, an increase in contributions by five percent is planned in all income groups. In addition, a new upper income group "over 65,000 euros" will be introduced. From August 2025, the city plans to increase the OGS contributions by three percent annually in order to take the increasing personnel costs into account. Siblings who attend a daycare center, a day care center or the OGS are subject to a special regulation in which 60 percent of the regular contribution must be paid for the oldest child and the first sibling.

The criteria for the contribution calculation are based on the booked weekday, the income of the parents and the age of the child. The planned increase means that parents of over three -year -old children with an annual income of over 120,000 euros will have to pay 665 euros for 45 hours per week. In the event of under-three year olds, the contributions vary between 86 and 812 euros. However, the contribution does not include the costs for lunch. The new version of the parents' contribution statutes will be advised by the youth welfare committee and school committee before the city council decides on the decision in June.
