ICE Sprinter Bonn-Berlin fails for two weeks-train blog location

at Cologne Central Station there are considerable restrictions on train traffic. Numerous regional and S-Bahn connections as well as long-distance trains are affected for over two weeks.

Deutsche Bahn has announced that the ICE sprinter connections on the Bonn-Köln-Berlin route are completely eliminated during a blocking of several weeks. These measures are related to the commissioning of a new electronic signal box, which is intended to improve the efficiency and safety of the train operation. The blocking extends until Monday, May 19th, at 5 a.m.

During this block, the railway line along the Rhine is not passable from Cologne to Bonn and Koblenz. This also affects the connections between Cologne and Aachen as well as Cologne and Euskirchen. The extensive operating interruption is expected to change the travel plans for many commuters and travelers.

The Cologne main station is not only the most frequented train station in North Rhine-Westphalia, but also plays a central role in the entire German rail network. With around 180,000 travelers every day, the train station remains an important hub for commuters and travelers who are often dependent on punctual connections. The upcoming changes could therefore have a significant impact on commuting.

travelers are advised to inform themselves in good time about alternative connections and, if necessary, switch to other means of transport in order to avoid delays. Deutsche Bahn will provide additional information about the design and schedules during this transition period in order to keep the effects of the blocking as low as possible.
