artist conversation with Steffi Mayer
On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, an artist interacice with the painter Steffi Mayer will take place in the museum in the KulturSchare (Mik) in Würzburg at 7 p.m. This event is organized by the Freundeskreis Kultursteicher Würzburg e.V. and offers the audience the opportunity to go into a dialogue directly with the artist. It is the 67th edition of this series of discussions, which regularly puts artists in the spotlight, whose works are presented in the museum.
Steffi Mayer, who was born in Würzburg in 1967 and grew up in Erlabrunn, has a remarkable artistic career. With private teaching support in painting since 1984, she has developed her skills and completed an apprenticeship as a church painter as a chamber winner. Her artistic training was supplemented by studies on the academies of visual arts in Munich and Hamburg as well as a stay in Aix-en-Provence. Mayer has been working freelance since 1996 and has gone through various life stations, including in Würzburg and Berlin, before she has currently settled in Crailsheim.
The work of Steffi Mayer is characterized by color-intensive, figurative abstract elements that show closeness to expressionism and at the same time bear their individual handwriting. Her art often deals with the human body and nature, often drawing inspiration from her family environment. Thanks to her artistic achievements, she was awarded the Bavarian State Government in 2005.
In the museum in the cultural memory there are several of their works, including ten etchings from the "Genovevas World" series and the important oil picture "Summer idyll", which was acquired in 2024 by the proceeds of an event. The evening is moderated by Marcus Andrew Hurttig, the director of the MIK. The admission begins at 6:30 p.m., and the entrance fee is € 6.50, reduced € 4.50, whereby tickets are only available at the box office.
For those interested in art and culture, this conversation is a valuable opportunity to learn more about Steffi Mayer's impressive work and to experience their artistic perspective first-hand.
