The weapons down: Artists plan actions for peace
On June 14, 2025, a comprehensive peace initiative in many German cities under the motto "The weapons!" take place. These actions are organized by a group of artists who have come together under the name "Artists for Peace" (KKFFRIENT). The aim of this initiative is to artistically advocate peace and to demonstrate against war and war.
As part of the events, art campaigns in cities such as Dortmund, Bonn, Saarbrücken and Munich are carried out. A central element of these actions is the use of the color white, which symbolically stands for peace and unity. The specific shape and the time process of the actions are organized by the individual participants, which leaves space for creative forms of expression and individual contributions.
The idea behind this project is to remember the birthday of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Bertha von Suttner, whose commitment to peace is still of great importance today. Through their creativity, artists should reach a broader public and stimulate the discussion about peace and war.
Jane Zahn, a cabaret artist from Rheinsberg, is actively involved in planning such actions and hopes that also in other regions such as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, artists: inside to support this initiative. Community art projects are intended to provide strong visual and emotional impulses that raise awareness of peace.
These planned actions fall into a context in which artists are increasingly taking on the role of activists and using their platforms to take up socio -political issues. The artist's commitment: Inside for peace, the desire of many people reflects to live in a more conflict -free world and at the same time use art as a medium for change.
