Windeck: Motorcyclists skid and falls into Graben
On Friday afternoon, May 9th, a serious accident occurred on Landesstraße 312 at Windeck, in which a 73-year-old motorcyclist from Neuss suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver was part of a group of four bikers and drove between Neuenhof and Rieferath around 3:50 p.m. when he got off the road.
In an unfortunate moment, the man's motorcycle got on the soft forest floor, which led to it against steering strongly. As a result, however, he lost control. His vehicle tipped over, slipped across the street and finally fell down a 30 meter deep slope, where it came to a standstill on an overturned tree.
After the fall, the driver was initially passed out and, according to police reports, had serious injuries. The Windeck volunteer fire brigade and rescue workers were quickly on hand. The man was recovered in a grinding basket carrier with a high -rise assurance set, while an emergency doctor took care of his medical care.
A rescue helicopter, "Christoph Rheinland", brought the injured biker who was again conscious in a medical facility in Cologne-Merheim. To clarify the course of the accident, a special team of accident recording of the Cologne police for reconstruction of the events was requested.
The state road 312 had to be closed for several hours in order to be able to carry out the necessary measures. The incident illustrates the potential dangers of motorcycling and the need for caution on the streets, especially in forested areas with changing road conditions.
