Millions of mothers are affected by acute malnutrition worldwide, and the cuts of international aids are further tightening the Situation. On the occasion of the upcoming Mother's Day on May 11th, Care Germany draws attention to the alarming situation. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, over 3.7 million pregnant and breastfeeding women are affected. In countries such as Afghanistan and Sudan, 1.2 million women and around 1.1 million in South Sudan also have to deal with food bottlenecks. The drastic cuts of the encoder are a serious threat, since the United Nations World Food Program for 2025 expects a decrease in funds by 40 percent, which could potentially defend 58 million people access to vital foods.

Especially affected are mothers in crisis regions that often do without food to supply their children. However, this has serious consequences for the health of these mothers and their children. In a statement, the General Secretary of Care Germany, Karl-Otto Zentel, emphasized the responsibility towards these women and the need not to refrain from the situation.

The cuts affect not only nutrition, but also medical care. Especially in countries such as Yemen and the South Sudan, means of obstacles and the formation of midwives are increasingly missing. In Northwest Syria, the closure of over half of the emergency birthday centers could lead to 1.3 million women lose access to vital medical services.

The international community calls on

care to increase the humanitarian agents immediately to ensure the nutrition and medical care of mothers in crisis regions. This requires targeted programs for pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as long -term and flexible financing to support comprehensive help.
