Bad Honnef: The stadium is being renovated for 3.8 million euros
The renovation of the stadium on Menzenberg in Bad Honnef has officially started. Mayor Otto Neuhoff, together with other official representatives, set the symbolic sign for the beginning of the construction project on Monday afternoon, whose total costs are estimated at 3.8 million euros. The renewal includes the total infrastructure of the stadium, including the lawn, the competition tracks and the grandstand building. The completion is planned for April next year.
The stadium, opened in 1968, was in a worrying state, which led to partial closure. The retaining walls in particular were no longer stable, which underlines the need to renovate. Despite its dilapidated state, the sports facility is a central place for the sporting activities of the citizens. Football clubs, athletes, schools and other sports associations use this important facility.
renovations and their importance
As part of the project, the measure for sowing a new lawn for autumn is intended. According to landscape architect Markus Illgas, the implementation of the work will depend heavily on the weather, especially when it comes to the plastic coverings for the career. District Administrator Sebastian Schuster emphasizes the relevance of the natural grass field, since this is one of only four places still existing in the Rhein-Sieg district, which must be maintained.
These comprehensive investments in the sports infrastructure show the commitment of the city of Bad Honnef for the promotion of sport and movement in the community. With the completion of these projects, a modern and attractive sports facility for the next generation of athletes is created.
