With the latest Power Swap Station (PSS) in Sankt Augustin, North Rhine-Westphalia, the Chinese electric car producer Nio has taken another important step in the expansion of its charging infrastructure in Europe. This 20th station in Germany is also the 60th in Europe and underlines NIOS commitment to electromobility. The innovative second generation PSS can carry out up to 312 battery exchange processes every day and has the capacity to store up to 13 batteries.

"This is an important milestone for our growing network of power swap stations in Europe," said Kajsa Ivansson Sognefur, the head of Power Europe near NIO. "60 stations in Europe - that is a strong signal for our continuous commitment to offer users on the entire continent the most comfortable and innovative energy solutions."

nio also introduced a flexible battery upgrade in Germany as well as in Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden. This new offer is particularly aimed at Baas-user (Battery-as-a-Service), which can replace your standard battery for PSS for a period of 30 days for a battery with a high range. This flexibility enables users to cover their mobility needs at short notice, especially when traveling. This approach promotes sustainable mobility, since the users only pay for the additional capacity if they actually need it, which lowers the total costs.

The flexible battery upgrade booking is conveniently via the NIO app, which makes it easier to use e-mobility and gives users more control over their vehicle performance. NIO therefore positions itself not only as a manufacturer of electric vehicles, but also as a provider of innovative solutions in the field of charging infrastructure.

With the continuous expansion of its network, Nio reacts to the growing demand for flexible charging solutions. The new power swap stations not only offer users a quick way to change their batteries, but also promote trust in electromobility by offering practical and economic solutions. This is a crucial step to further spread electric vehicles in Europe.
