Process against luxury vehicle fraudsters begins in Siegburg

Siegburg: The accused are said to have rented luxury cars to third parties

In Siegburg, an important procedure against eight accused before the Bonn district court began this week. According to the public prosecutor, there are six men and two women who rented online in Bornheim in 2021 and 2022 and are then unlawfully rented to third parties.

This process is particularly remarkable because it takes place in the newly opened branch of the Bonn district court in Siegburg. The modern -equipped building, which was only inaugurated in February, is designed to efficiently handle large procedures with several defendants. The new building was originally designed to cope with the numerous expected process load in connection with the CUM-EX shops. Currently, however, the state -of -the -art court halls are also used for other important procedures, since there are currently only two charges in connection with these shops.

charge for commercial gang frauds

The accused is accused of a total of 87 cases of commercial gang fraud. The public prosecutor has charged the three brothers and two other men, who are 27 and 29 years old. Two other defendants, a 61-year-old and the two women, were held accountable for help. The total damage caused by the alleged offenses is estimated at over half a million euros.

At the beginning of the proceedings, it turned out that not all the accused were present. The middle brother of the three accused, who was recently released from a three -year prison sentence, was able to flee. The police are now investigating him, while a 61-year-old defendant did not take part in the first day of the hearing due to health problems, but was arrested in Frankfurt on the following day.

allegation of manipulation and illegal rental

The allegations are essentially about the fact that the three brothers and their accomplices rent high -priced vehicles over the Internet and have not paid the rental costs. These cars were then increasingly rented through various own companies. According to the indictment, speedometer stands as well as GPS signals are said to have been manipulated in order to disguise illegal activity. In some cases it is even reported that the vehicles were sold.

The main defendant is accused of illegally renting a BMW that he should repair. After returning the vehicle, it turned out that it had well more kilometers on the speedometer than originally agreed. In addition, there are part of the indictment, such as gaining a loan of 10,000 euros, which has not been repaid. The process that is complex is temporarily scheduled until July.
