On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, a spectacular chase occurred in the Rhein-Sieg district when a 25-year-old driver of a BMW wanted to escape police control. The officers of the Siegburg police station had seen the man on Kaiserstrasse and wanted to stop him, but he ignored the request and fled.

During his trip, the driver not only disregarded the police stops, but also numerous traffic rules. He overturned a red light -absorbing construction site traffic light and forced other road users to dangerous braking maneuvers. The flight led him over the sidewalk to avoid other vehicles, which luckily remained without incidents for pedestrians. The path continued onto federal road 56 and finally on the 560 motorway towards Bonn.

Thanks to the high traffic volume in the construction site area, the police were able to stop the fleeing BMW very quickly. The driver was captivated without resistance, and the highway had to be closed for about 15 minutes to carry out the measures of the emergency services. The police officers were on the road in cooperation with the Cologne motorway police.

During the check, it turned out that the 25-year-old was under the influence of drugs and was also not in possession of a valid driver's license. After removing a blood sample, the vehicle was secured as evidence. Fortunately, the use remained without damage to property or personal injury.

The man now looks at serious legal consequences, since he has to answer for driving without driving license, driving under the influence of drugs, hazardous road traffic and the suspicion of a forbidden motor vehicle race. The incident illustrates the increasingly problematic topic of traffic safety and drugs at the wheel, which is intensively discussed in many regions.
