Recycling challenges in the waste paper industry: Experts discuss solutions
The European waste paper industry has been faced with various challenges since 2020. Werner Steingaß, Vice President of the BVSE and chairman of the paper recycling association, recently emphasized at the BVSE international waste paper day in Berlin that the current situation was shaped by numerous difficulties. In particular, the topic of recycling fiber -based packaging was the focus of a panel discussion, in which representatives of well -known companies such as CEPI, Procter & Gamble, Extr: Act and Leipa.
Experts agree that special barriers will be required in the future with regard to a possible replacement of plastic packaging by paper and cardboard packaging. The podium experts underlined the need to significantly improve the recyclability and quota of these packaging. This print results not only from legal requirements, but also from the end consumers, for whom the recyclability of the packaging is increasingly incorporating into the purchase decision.
The discussion about recycling fiber -based packaging is still of great relevance in the waste paper industry.
