Rhein in Flames 2025: closures and information on the big event
The traditional event "Rhein in Flames" will again attract numerous visitors in 2025. From 2nd to May 4th, the Rheinaue in Bonn becomes the center of a large -scale spectacle, which takes place on both German and French side of the Rhine. In order to ensure the safety of event participants, various streets are blocked in the Rheinau area. The city of Bonn urgently advises visitors to get public transport, bicycles or on foot to the event, as parking spaces nearby are available in a limited number.
An outstanding highlight of the event will be the impressive fireworks on Saturday evening, which will be combined with an innovative drone show this year. This combination has already proven itself in the previous year and should also attract numerous people in 2025. It is expected that the number of visitors will be particularly high, which can lead to traffic impairments in the surrounding areas.
Road closures and arrival
The road closures begin on Saturday afternoon. The federal city of Bonn emphasizes that it makes more sense to come to the event by public transport. A large bicycle parking lot below the motorway bridge in the Rheinaue is also set up to give cyclists comfortable access to the event. In addition, rental E scooters and bicycles may not be parked in the area of the Rheinaue, which is why users should pay attention to parking the rental objects outside the event area.
safety regulations during the event
Special safety precautions apply on the event site. Open fire, grills and glass containers are prohibited to ensure the safety of everyone present. There are sufficient supply facilities available for visitors where food and drinks are sold.
public transport and shipping
Due to a blocking of the left bank of the Rhine, Deutsche Bahn will offer rail replacement traffic, which runs on Saturday between 3 p.m. and 1 a.m. The buses will target the “Rheinaue main access” stop. In addition, shipping on the Rhine is closed on Saturday evening between 7 p.m. and 0:45 a.m. to ensure a safe ship convoy for the fireworks. This affects a whole section of 18 kilometers.
The city of Bonn is trying to make it easier and down to arrive by additional buses, including taxis. It is recommended to use the transport connections to get home without stress after the event.
