From 2nd to May 4, 2025, over 100,000 visitors flocked to Bonn and in the Siebengebirge to celebrate the beginning of the open-air season at Rhein. The highlight of this event was the impressive fireworks display that was ignited over the Rheinaue on Saturday evening.

The opening ceremony initially went in bright spring weather, while over 30,000 people enjoyed the varied stage program on Friday. On Saturday, however, a severe weather warning from the German Weather Service caused a temporary interruption. The organizer decided to pause the event at 2:30 p.m., which was communicated smoothly and quickly. Most visitors left the site of what supported the security measures.

After a heavy rain, the festival could be resumed around 6:30 p.m. Many guests returned and the Bläck Fööss continued the stage program in front of a rapidly growing crowd. The Rheinaue gradually filled up again, and the fireworks were imminent.

Although a planned drone show had to be canceled due to an unregistered drone, the fireworks remained a spectacular finale. It was accompanied by a festive ship convoy that consisted of 17 illuminated ships. This convoyed along the Rhine, which brought additional shine to the event.

The three -day program offered a variety of music and entertainment. With several stages, including the rock smithy, well-known bands from various music styles completed their program. Family and children were particularly addressed on the family day with appearances by popular characters such as the mouse and Shaun. A medieval market on the banks of the Rhine, characterized by atmospheric lighting and suitable attractions, completed the offer.

The event was calm according to reports from the security service and the fire brigade. Some minor incidents, such as violations of youth protection and false parking, were registered, but without preventing any significant disorders. Public transport, which was greatly expanded by the Bonn municipal utility, managed the high number of guests well.

Overall, Rhein once again showed its importance for Bonn and the region in flames, which underlined not only the return of visitors after the storm, but also the extensive organization and the variety of the program.
