Rimmel conjures up historical No Hitter for Bonn Capitals
The Bonn Capitals celebrated a successful home start in the current season of the 1st Baseball Bundesliga by defeating the Dohren Wild Farmers in both games of the DoubleHeader. After a narrow 2-1 victory in the first game, the Rhinelanders prevailed 3-0 in the second encounter. A special highlight was the performance of the Starting Pitcher Niklas Rimmel, who recorded a No Hitter via seven innings. Only a hit by Pitch in the last round prevented Perfect Game for the former professional player.
In a game characterized by wet -cold conditions, the Capitals showed presence early when they scored the first run in the second inning. The overall offense of the team remained rather behavior, but decisive needles brought the victory home. In the fourth inning, they were able to expand their lead through good plays by Josef Rosenthal, Daniel Sanchez and Eric Kunze to three points.
On the other side of the field, Ivan Andueza Alvarez from the Wild Farmers team also kept the Bonn's impact men in chess, despite only four hits and three walks for the capitals. But it was Rimmel who stole the show on that day by eliminating eleven opponents by strikeout and thus introducing his first victory in the 2024 season. A remarkable success for the team and a historical moment in Rimmel's career.
