Sabine Mendez becomes Managing Director of the Job Center Cologne

From September 1, 2025, Sabine Mendez will take over the management of the Job Center Cologne. The experienced social rights expert has extensive professional experience that she has gained in the urban service since 2003. She started her career in the job center as a clerk and she quickly worked up in management positions, including the management of the U25 division from 2014 to 2018.

After a temporary job as a department head for integration at the Office for Public Order, Mendez returned to the job center in summer 2019. There she took responsibility for the "Central Services" department. She is currently a member of the management since she was appointed position in July 2020.

Mayor Henriette Reker said positively about the appointment of Mendez: "I think it's good that we were able to win a proven specialist with Sabine Mendez, and I am sure that she will be experienced and successfully mastered this new task." Dr. Harald Rau, a deputy for social affairs, health and living, added that Mendez was an experienced leader and her team would further strengthen integration into the labor market.

The assembly of the job center has approved its order for five years. During this time she will succeed Martina Würker, who is retiring. The main committee also approved the decision at its meeting.
