Fast bus lines at the limit: funding before the end

The ExpressBuslines X2, X4 and X7, which represent important connections between Stuttgart, Leonberg, Nürtingen and Filderstadt, are looking forward to an uncertain future. These express bus lines, which convince by shortened travel times compared to regular bus connections, could face financial difficulties from autumn. The annual grant requirement for these express buses is estimated by the state capital and the affected counties at 3.4 million euros. With the withdrawal of the state government from the financing of September 30, these funds could be missing, which endangers the existence of the ExpressBuslines.

Transport Minister Winfried Hermann von den Green has now offered to extend the promotion of express bus lines "exceptionally". He sees failures both in Stuttgart and in the counties and is trying to find a solution to ensure the continued existence of these important transport connections. The decision about the future of the ExpressBusse therefore depends not only on financial considerations, but also on political developments and the use of those responsible, who have to develop a permanent solution for the operation of the ExpressBus lines.
