A serious accident occurred at the Bonn-Nord motorway junction on the night of May 1st. A driver lost control of her vehicle around 1.39 a.m. when she came from Cologne's direction of travel from the 555 motorway and landed in the green area. The circumstances of the accident required an extensive use of the fire brigade and the emergency services.
The driver, who was in a difficult situation, could not precisely state her exact location. Several units were sent to the scene of the accident by different fire and rescue guards to provide quick help. Despite the confusing area, which was characterized by trees, branches and bushes, the driver managed to independently free himself from the badly damaged vehicle.

The injured driver was looked after by the motorway police until the emergency services arrived. Due to her serious injuries, transport to a Bonn hospital was necessary. The use of the rescue workers took around an hour and required considerable manual work to recover the away vehicle. For this purpose, a chainsaw was used to cut the vehicle free before it could be pulled out of the thicket with a winch and handed over to a towing service.
