Lohmar motorcyclists in the event of an accident on the B507 seriously injured

On Friday evening, May 9th, there was a serious traffic accident on the B507 near Lohmar, in which a motorcyclist and a car were involved. According to the police, the control center was informed at 7:06 p.m. by an eyewitness that had observed how a car overturned and the motorcyclist flew through the air.

The initial investigations by the police showed that the 49-year-old motorcyclist from Ruppichteroth drove the B507 from the direction of Polhausen. In a long right curve to the Gebermühle junction, he lost control of his motorcycle for still unclear reasons, which led to a fall. The motorcycle continued to slip on the road, while an oncoming 24-year-old driver from Cologne tried to avoid the slippery radius. In doing so, he also lost control of his vehicle, which overturned and remained on the roof.

In the accident, the motorcyclist was seriously injured and had to be taken to a hospital immediately. The car driver, on the other hand, only suffered minor injuries and also received medical help. Both vehicles were no longer ready to drive after the accident and were towed. The property damage is estimated at around 20,000 euros.

As a result of the accident, the B507 was closed in the area of the accident for about 90 minutes. The police diverted traffic to ensure the security measures related to the accident. Such traffic accidents illustrate the dangers in road traffic and the importance of precautionary measures, especially on winding routes.

Regardless of the physical injuries that have suffered, it is decisive to be aware of the risks when driving. Motorcyclists are particularly at risk if they are in traffic situations in which the road conditions or the behavior of other road users must be taken into account.
