theater meets science - University of Bonn
The connection between theater and science is researched in an innovative way at the University of Bonn. As part of the exhibition "On Searching for Trips" in P26, the House of Knowledge and Research, a performative leadership is offered, which enables the participants to experience the objects on display in a new way. This staging uses all the senses to create an intensive understanding of the artistic and historical contexts of the objects.
The University Theater Group S.U.B.-Kultur, under the direction of Marcus Brien and the support of Alma Hannig, the collection coordinator, developed a creative performance that will take place on May 7, 2025. In this performance, four carefully selected objects are circled by various forms of representation, including improvisation and dance. This variety of forms of expression enables the stories and meanings of the objects to be illuminated from different perspectives.
The participants of the performance have the opportunity to experience the history of the objects from the perspective of the visitor and from that of the researchers. The actors also bring the emotionality and creativity of the theater, which immerse yourself in a lively interpretation of the scientific content. This interplay of drama, comedy and dance creates a unique experience in which art and science interact harmoniously.
The performances are not only enriched by the creative interpretation of the students, but also by the scientific support and contextualization of Alma Hannig. This ensures that the presentation is both informative and entertaining. The performance emphasizes the peculiarities and origins of the objects and makes the history of the University of Bonn alive.
Overall, this innovative project represents an important interface between theater and science and shows how artistic performances can offer deeper insights into historical and cultural topics. The performance thus becomes an element of education and cultural enrichment for all participants.
