Solar cluster Baden-Württemberg reports: Solar energy expansion in record height
The expansion of the solar energy in Baden-Württemberg continues to progress, as the Solar Cluster Baden-Württemberg Association announced in Stuttgart. By the end of March 2024, a new installed output of around 490 megawatts was achieved, which is an increase of about 30 megawatts compared to the same period last year. These figures are based on the preliminary data of the Federal Network Agency, which were corrected by the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg.
In the first quarter of this year, a total of around 35,000 new solar power systems were installed in the southwest. However, there is a decline in the extension on the roofs, while the construction of solar parks is becoming more important on open spaces. While in 2023 84 percent of the addition was still on roofs, this proportion fell to about two thirds in the first quarter of 2024. At the same time, the addition of solar parks, which were realized by municipalities and companies, increased to a total output of 160 megawatts in the first quarter of 2024. This development is a sign that the expansion of solar energy in the southwest offers a variety of potential.
Andreas Schlumberger, the head of the Solar Cluster Association, warned at more speed in expanding photovoltaics. In his opinion, accelerated implementation is necessary to use the opportunities of solar energy in the best possible way and to promote the energy transition efficiently. Overall, the positive development in the area of solar energy shows that Baden-Württemberg is on the right track to make energy supply more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
