Donation campaign for Marlene: VdK Wenden supports rare disease

"Blue Donation Sau" from VdK Wenden was for Marlene

In the recent annual general meeting of the VdK local association Wenden, the municipality was asked for support for the small Marlene Butzkamm. The 16 -month -old Marlene suffers from an extremely rare genetic defect called "Gldn", of which only two other cases are known worldwide. The members of the association were largely solidarity and willing to help the affected family.

The Butzkamm family, based in Möllmicke, is regularly treated in Bonn, where Marlene is treated in the university hospital. These treatments are not only crucial for Marlone's personal development, but also contribute to progressive research on the rare genetic defect. In order to facilitate the stay in Bonn, the family has the opportunity to live in the neighboring family house Bonn, where Marlone's older sister Annemarie is also looked after. This ensures that the parents can quickly be with their daughter.

Thanks to the support of the VdK, a filled "blue donation-sau" could be handed over to the Butzkamm family. This donation, which comprises an amount of 1,445 euros, is used by the parents for the treatment and stay in Bonn. The handover took place by Ludger Henne, the second cashier of the VDK, and the responsible local supervisor Andreas Schneider.

Marlene already shows positive progress through the ongoing therapies, which nourishes hope of improving her Situation. Solidarity within the community often becomes very clear in such difficult times, and the financial support is invaluable for affected families. The commitment of the VDK Wenden is an example of how local initiatives can provide real help.
