Locking of the Siebengebirge departure: Derirance from April 22nd

A3: Departure Siebengebirge towards Cologne is blocked until June

commuter and travelers who use the A3 motorway should be prepared for restrictions. The Autobahn Society has announced that the Siebengebirge departure will be blocked from April 22nd to June 16, 2024. This is expected to lead to delays in traffic, since a bottleneck can also be expected between the Bonn/Siegburg cross and the Siebengebirge exit.

diversion measures

In order to control traffic during this time, a reduction in demand has been set up. This is signposted with blue panels with the inscription "U13". The detour leads from the Bad Honnef/Linz junction via various country roads to avoid the blocked descent. Drivers are asked to use this detour to avoid traffic jams and delays.

reasons for the blocking

The blocking is part of the next construction phase to renew the A3 between Cologne-Heumar and Bad Honnef. These comprehensive renovation work became necessary because the road is in poor condition and has various defects, such as lane grooves and cracks. During the construction work, the number of lanes available on the A3 towards Cologne between the Siebengebirge junction and the Bonn/Siegburg motorway junction will be reduced. Road users should therefore plan enough time before their trips begin.

long -term renovation projects

The Autobahn GmbH has started to renew about 42 kilometers on the A3 since 2019. As part of these measures, not only the lanes, but also bridges, road equipment as well as the drainage and signage are extensively renovated. New and supplementary noise barriers are also being built to reduce the noise emission for residents. The construction work for the fourth construction phase begins after Easter and extend over a period of time when the highway is renovated on different sections.
