Stammfahr in North Rhine -Westphalia: Current motorway closures and diversions at a glance
Which motorways are currently closed in NRW - an overview
In North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), motorway closures are regularly closed, which ensure considerable traffic restrictions. During travel times, such as during the Easter holidays, traffic increases, which often leads to traffic jams and delays.
Current closures in NRW
- A1 near Leverkusen: on the night of April 25 (10 p.m.) to April 26 (10 a.m.), the A1 between the Leverkusen-West and Leverkusen motorway junction is fully blocked in both directions. Individual connections in the Leverkusen-West motorway junction remain usable.
- A45 at Lüdenscheid: This highway has been completely closed since December 2021 and probably by the end of 2026 between Lüdenscheid-Nord and the Schlittenbach valley bridge. The reason for this is the dilapidated Talbrücke Rahmede, which was blown up in May.
- A52 at Kaarst: From April 30th, the A52 will be closed to the Netherlands for almost a week.
- A544 near Aachen: Since July 24, 2023, this highway has been fully blocked due to serious damage to the Haarbachtal Bridge towards Cologne between Europaplatz and Würselen. From January 15, 2024, the route will remain closed in both directions for two years.
- A565 near Bonn: Due to a large construction site on the Endicher egg in Bonn, the A565 has been affected since November 13, 2023. A total of 14 full closures are planned here by mid -2027, including a week -long blocking from May 20, 2025.
expectations for traffic

The challenges of construction sites and necessary repairs to infrastructure are not only up to date, but also represent a continuous problem. Drivers should always find out about the current traffic situation and consider alternative routes to minimize traffic jams and time losses.
Further updates to the traffic closures are available continuously to inform drivers as best as possible.
