thousands of cyclists to demo for better bike paths
On Sunday, the ADFC bicycle club organizes a star trip to the state parliament in Düsseldorf to demonstrate for improved bike paths in North Rhine-Westphalia. This initiative aims to mobilize the cyclists in order to draw attention to the grievances in the infrastructure. The participants will arrive from various cities in the country to make their way to Düsseldorf in the morning. The big demonstration train is planned for the afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
The chair of the Düsseldorf ADFC, Daniela Günther, emphasizes the need for broad bike tracks in the inner cities as well as safe and complete bike paths. In their opinion, only such conditions are suitable for moving more people to cycle. The planned expansion of cycling quickly has been delayed for years, while the needs of drivers often enjoy priority. This means that cyclists are disadvantaged in many cities, which requires a significant improvement in the transport infrastructure.
Various starting sites are offered for the star trip, including cities such as Aachen, Bonn, Dortmund and Gelsenkirchen. Family -friendly journeys from the closer area of Düsseldorf also make it possible for fewer sporting participants to take part in the demonstration. The ADFC mobilizes tens of thousands of people every year in order to draw attention to this important topic and to promote rethinking in transport policy. In addition to this individual event, there is a growing trend in many German cities to improve the infrastructure for cyclists. The increasing figures on cyclists and the increasing demands for better conditions are indicators for change towards sustainable mobility. In recent years, numerous cities have started to consider cycling as an equivalent type of locomotion and to integrate them into urban development accordingly. This ADFC campaign is therefore not only a demonstration for better bike paths, but also part of a larger movement that works for an environmentally friendly and future -proof traffic design. The importance of secure cycle paths and the promotion of cycling is enormous, especially in a context that is increasingly shaped by climate change and urban traffic problems.
