District Court Siegburg: prison sentence for burglars

A 33-year-old man who had only recently moved from Ludwigshafen to Siegburg has again shown a criminal behavior. Standing under probation, he broke into three different restaurants within one month and stolen cash. The accused had to answer to the district court of Siegburg for several crimes, including theft with weapon.

The accused stated in court that the move to Siegburg resulted from the wish to see his daughter, who lives in the district town with her mother. Between the beginning of January and early February 2025, he collapsed in two restaurants on Zeithstraße and one in the street “Am Herrengarten”. During this break -ins he captured around 8,200 euros and a watch. In addition, by breaking up doors and rooms, it caused property damage of over 4,000 euros.

In court, the accused admitted all the allegations. He explained that he only had 520 euros a month, a large part of which went for the rent. Because of his actions, which were classified as particularly serious, the court sentenced the accused to a prison sentence of two years without probation. It was also found that he had a knife with one of the burglaries, which also tightened the judgment.

Although the arrest warrant was not lifted, the judge admitted priority to drug therapy. He explained that therapy in prison was more difficult to carry out and that the accused had to find a therapy place within three months. It was also ordered that he had to report to the police every week.
