Bonn (Germany): on Friday morning, May 9, 2025, a suspicious letter dispatch was discovered in a post office in the Hochkreu district. An employee opened a program that was then classified as potentially dangerous. This situation led to an extensive commitment of the fire brigade and the Bonn emergency services, which lasted until the evening.

Following the message, the control center alerted numerous emergency services under the keyword "ABC 3 exit". At the scene it was found that the employee in question was unharmed and was in a stable state. There was no risk of spreading or delaying dangerous substances, since another employee was in an adjacent room without direct contact.

After a detailed exploration and the establishment of security measures, special forces from the analytical task force from Cologne and Essen and the police were consulted for support. These specialists are able to examine dangerous fabrics directly on site and take appropriate samples. In addition, the employee concerned was directed from the premises and both he and the emergency services were cleaned by a decontamination.

The emergency services included a total of 90 people from the Bonn professional and volunteer fire brigade, supported by the police, the order for regulations and the health department. Two ATF teams from Cologne and Essen were also ready, while the Bad Godesberg fire and rescue station was filled in parallel.

The incident shows the proactive and quick reaction of the emergency services to possible dangers and emphasizes the importance of security measures in public institutions. Thanks to the precise processes and the cooperation of various institutions, a greater risk could be quickly excluded.
