A 65-year-old Mercedes driver lost his life in a traffic accident on the night of Sunday on the Bundesautobahn 555 at the “Im Eichkamp” rest area. According to reports, a 33-year-old BMW driver, in which alcohol consumption is suspected, drove to the vehicle of the 65-year-old at high speed at around 0.30 a.m. The Mercedes driver later succumbed to his serious injuries in the hospital, while the 33-year-old suffered serious injuries. The police ordered a blood sample and confiscated the driver's license of the allegedly alcoholic driver.

The Autobahn 555 in the direction of Bonn was completely closed between the Wesseling and Bornheim junctions until the morning hours.
