Extensive track closures: night work at the electronic signal box Cologne Central Station
Extensive track closures: night work at the electronic signal box Cologne Central Station
from Friday, May 3, to Friday, May 10th, nighttime construction work takes place at the new electronic signal box of the Cologne Central Station. During this time, Deutsche Bahn mainly carries out overhead line and cable building work. During this work, the tracks of the Hohenzollern Bridge are alternately blocked, which leads to considerable restrictions on all lines in the Cologne node. Travelers of the Lines RE5, RB26, RB27, RB48 and S19 have to adapt to extensive effects that occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The construction work means that there are draft cancellations and changed timetables, since the route capacities are restricted. It is therefore recommended to check the current timetables before starting the trip and, if necessary, switch to alternative modes of transport. Deutsche Bahn is working intensively to keep the impairments for passengers as low as possible and asks for understanding for the inconvenience.
The lines mentioned (RE5, RB26, RB27, RB48 and S19) are affected by the construction work at different times and of different levels. It is therefore advisable to find out more about possible restrictions in good time and to adapt travel plans if necessary. Deutsche Bahn does everything possible to complete the construction work quickly in order to restore regular train traffic as quickly as possible.
