Environmental protests in Grünheide: Citizens' initiative demands Tesla-Stop

The continuous protests against Tesla show no signs of decreasing. In a recent campaign organized by the Grünheide Citizens' Initiative, around 50 participants took part in a forest walk. The police reported that this meeting was peaceful. The protesting requests more extensive reviews of the environmental impact of Tesla production in Grünheide, where the company runs its only European factory.

A central concern of the protesters is the supposedly high water consumption of the production facility, which is regarded as a potential threat to basic and drinking water. Spokeswoman Caro Weber expressed concerns and referred to the drought of the past year. In order to draw attention to their concerns, the alliance organized an arrival with bicycles, which underlines the environmentally friendly cessation of protesters.

Tesla counters the accusations and refers to its own environmental protection measures that have already been implemented. According to the company, the water consumption was reduced and they recycle up to 100 percent of the process sampling water. Despite these arguments, the tension between the company and the environmental activist remains tense because the protests increase in both Germany and internationally.

International Dimension of Protests

On Saturday under the motto "Teslatakedown" protests took place. The initiative reported meetings not only in various German cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg, but also in countries such as Great Britain, Finland, Austria and Switzerland. These far -reaching protests indicate a growing international concern about the effects of Tesla's business practices on the environment.

The critical voices are also increasingly directed against the personal views of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. His controversial statements and his role as a consultant by former US President Donald Trump contributed to polarization. At a time when the market for electric vehicles is becoming increasingly challenging, public perception is seriously influenced, which is also reflected in the figures of Teslas's new registrations. These were significantly below the previous year in March 2023.
