Severe weather warning for Bonn today: Dangerous thunderstorms and heavy rain awaited
in Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, an official severe weather warning was issued for today. The German Weather Service (DWD) expects strong thunderstorms from 5:44 p.m. to around 6:45 p.m., which will go hand in hand with considerable rainfall and gusts of wind.
As part of this warning, intensive rainfall is expected, in which between 15 and 25 liters of precipitation per square meter per hour could fall. In addition, wind speeds of up to 60 km/h could occur, accompanied by small -grained hail. The dangers of these weather events are considerable: lightning strike, flying objects and sudden flooding of streets represent serious risks.
In view of this threat, the DWD urgently gives the following recommendations for action: Avoid the stay outdoors, seek protection in buildings, secure loose outdoor objects, and adapt your behavior in road traffic to escape dangers from aquaplaning or flooding. In particular, flooded sections should be avoided.Today's warning represents a striking weather warning (orange warning level). This level requires special care from the citizens, even if the DWD leads a total of four warning levels that range from yellow to dark red.
In terms of current weather conditions in Bonn, the temperature is about 18 degrees Celsius, whereby the humidity is 63 % and the wind speed is 33 km/h. Cooling is also expected in the course of the evening, whereby the probability of further precipitation remains high.
