Vacation trip in the air: Passengers at Cologne/Bonn Airport in the Zwickmühle

Cologne/Bonn Airport: Passengers make incredible ordeal through!

The anticipation of a vacation is often clouded by inconvenience at the airport. At Cologne/Bonn Airport, however, passengers experienced an exceptionally turbulent return journey that strongly exceeded their expectations of a relaxed vacation.

On April 13, the travelers on board a Boeing 737-800 from Hurghada to Cologne/Bonn had to accept two intermediate landings. What was originally planned as a direct flight with a duration of just over five hours developed into an uncertainty marathon over six hours. The first delay at the start was caused by a medical emergency on board, which forced the crew to land in Heraklion in Crete in order to provide a passenger urgently needed medical help.

reasons for the intermediate landings

The first intermediate landing in Heraklion was necessary so that medical emergency care could be done quickly. The person concerned was immediately handed over to medical care. After this unexpected interruption, the plane tried to head Cologne/Bonn Airport, but another support was necessary. This time, the decision to land in Zagreb was due to the fact that the crew was not allowed to exceed its maximum permitted service. In Zagreb there was a change of crew before the trip could continue.

The return to Cologne/Bonn

Despite the considerable delays and inconvenience, the passengers had to remain in the machine all the time while they were led through the different stations of their trip. In the end, however, the flight only resulted in a long and stressful way back to Cologne/Bonn, which for many travelers was not the relaxed flight experience they had hoped for.

In today's world, in which flight trips are increasingly stressed by factors such as overload and unpredictable circumstances, it is more important for passengers than ever to be informed about such events. In the future, however, passengers can pay more attention to the quality of the airlines' service offers and the transfer of information during turbulent trips to be better prepared.
