From May 22nd to May 25th, 2025, the fifth virtual #zerohungrun Challenge of Welthungerhilfe takes place. During these days, all interested part of a global movement can be against hunger. The event combines sporting activities with social engagement, with participants support people in need through voluntary donations.

worldwide are affected by hunger up to 733 million people, a state that is considered one of the greatest solvable problems in humanity. Every year, many children die from malnutrition, which underlines the urgency of such initiatives. The #zerohungrun Challenge would like to raise awareness of this problem through sporting activities and encourage active action.

participants, be it when running, cycling or walking, have freedom to carry out their activities at any time and location. Whether in the forest, in the park or in urban areas - everyone can take part at their own pace. The goal is to cover as many meters as possible in 30 or 60 minutes and to collect donations for hungry people.

Celebrities from Sports and Media actively supports the initiative. Tom Bartels, a well-known sports moderator, acts as an ambassador for the Challenge and encourages participation: "In sports it is about joy in movement and responsibility for everyone." Other supporters from the entertainment industry also contribute to the visibility and importance of the challenge by mobilizing their community.

The participants can share their progress and experiences on social media, which contributes to the creation of a digital community. By using apps, ambitious athletes can also track their services and measure themselves against others. The proceeds of the event flow into sustainable projects that aim to fight hunger worldwide.
