Meckenheim builds new secondary school and is committed to school
The second laying of the foundation stone for the new building of the Geschwister-Scholl secondary school took place in Meckenheim. This event was accompanied by Mayor Holger Jung and headmaster Peter Hauck and is a clear commitment to the secondary school. In a moving speech, Hauck expressed his gratitude and emphasized that this new building was of great importance for school, especially in view of the challenges that secondary schools are often facing.
The mayor emphasized the need and the desire to maintain and develop the secondary school in the city. He assured those present that the best prerequisites are created to enable the students a fear -free future. The city of Meckenheim thus illustrates its support for the three-part school system in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The construction project is implemented by the company Ten Brinke and not only includes the secondary school, but also the neighboring Konrad-Adenauer-Gymnasium, a canteen, an auditorium and a high garage with 250 parking spaces. These new facilities should be completed by 2027, with the first completion, the topping -out ceremony, celebrating this year. The campus will offer an area of around 15,000 square meters.
Hauck also made it clear that the construction is recognition of the previous achievements of the college and the city. In the past, the existence of the secondary school in Meckenheim was repeatedly questioned, a fact that causes similar concerns in many cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. Meckenheim could take a pioneering role in the region.
The project is rounded off by a time capsule that was filled in the laying of the foundation stone and is intended to serve as a symbol for the connection between the past and future of the new school. This initiative underlines the prudent approach of Meckenheim in the challenges of the education area and the firm belief in the secondary school as an important part of the school system.
