jump into the scientific career - University of Bonn

The promotion of young scientists at the University of Bonn, especially in the Medical Faculty, has top priority. As part of the Bonfor ("Bonner Research") funding program), talented young researchers are given targeted support. This program offers start -up financing that enables the funds to realize their creative and innovative projects. Numerous research work that has been funded by Bonfor have already produced significant scientific knowledge.

An important part of the funding are events, such as the 23rd symposium taking place on May 7, 2025. On this occasion, the Bonfor-funded people present their latest research results in the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) on the Bonn Venusberg. This offers a valuable platform for the exchange between the young scientists and the academic community.

In addition to the research presentations, there is a poster session in which the Scimed promotion scholarships present their projects. This interaction between different groups not only promotes the visibility of the work, but also the networking of the students with each other and with experienced scientists.

In order to appreciate the outstanding services of the researchers, the medical faculty awards prices of up to 800 euros for the best presentations from the bonfor and scimed program. The Bonfor Commission is announced, which represents additional motivation for the participants.

The symposium also includes a panel discussion organized by the medical council, which deals with current issues of medical research. In addition, a doctoral exchange is offered to help medical students find suitable topics and research groups for their dissertations. This initiative complements the funding programs and offers students valuable orientation aids on their academic way.
